My brownies are in the oven and I'm hoping for the best. Thanks for the great recipe. I googled chocolate banana caramel brownies hoping to use some left over dulce de leche that I made and a banana that I didn't want to waste. Your post caught my eye right away so I'm excited to tell you how they turn out!
P.S. Really beautiful engagement photos, congratulations!

Liz-Thanks for the feedback! My brownies also were only 2 layers (as you can see from the pic.) The caramel soaked into the banana layer and I loved the taste of that!
If you want a thick distinct caramel layer, I'd recommend using store-bought caramels. :) Let me know how that turns out!

Ok, I FINALLY made these. SO SO good.

My only problem was that the caramel seemed to kind of seep through the banana layer in the middle, and it would creep up and bubble over the sides. Don't get me wrong, still INCREDIBLY delicious, but I guess I was just hoping for three distinct layers. Next time I might try Layering the banana layer first, then the brownie layer, then pouring the caramel on the top and marbling it through the brownie layer. It might look prettier that way.

But then maybe I'll miss the caramel-y banana deliciousness on the bottom. We'll see.

oh me, oh my. i love that you layered the two instead of just combining them. how unique! all this talk of spilling caramel is too much for me to handle.

yum.
