Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie (vegan!)

It’s the final day of Frozen Treat Week and I actually have something healthy to share with you! (Plus we have another AMAZING giveaway- see below.) Not only is it totally healthy, but it’s so delicious that you will trick yourself into thinking you’re sipping a rich milkshake instead of something good for you. I actually was thinking as I drank this that it would be the perfect “treat” to give a kid. (I think about that stuff now you see.)

I had a version of this smoothie several times at a place I love called Soft Serve Fruit down in Union Square. Their stuff is amazing and made of all frozen fruit, water and a little bit of cane sugar. They have a killer smoothie that is made from their banana soft serve fruit, dark chocolate, peanut butter, and almond milk- and that’s what I tried to recreate here!

I think I did a pretty great job. Their version is a little sweeter which probably is due to a little cane sugar being added. I love both versions, and ended up adding a bit of honey to mine in the end. I enjoyed this for an afternoon pick me up, but I’d feel good having it any time of day. (Chocolate can be in breakfast if it’s combined with fruit and protein right??)

we love frozen smoothies…i freeze the banannas so i dont need to use ice…or do you think you need the water from the ice to thin it out? what’s your favorite almond milk brand? my parents have an almond farm and sell to blue diamond and i recently went to the almond farmer thank you dinner (right before harvest time here in CA) and during the presentation they were saying their product – Almond Breeze has been winning the taste tests and has really taken off. ANyone agree? I want to start using almond milk vs reg milk in my smoothies and def want to make this!!!

Frozen Bananas will work fine! It will just be a thicker smoothie :) And I love Blue Diamond brand or just what they sell at Trader Joes!

This looks amazing but please do not opt for honey, that is not vegan. Go for the cane sugar or agave or maple syrup
