I just made this cake and since it’s a birthday cake, it has to be perfect so I was doubly careful with all measurements. BUT, it won’t bake. I’ve had it in there for almost an hour and the center is still unbaked. What went wrong? I used a 10″ spring-form pan, and AP flour. You say to spoon the batter into the cake pan, but it wasn’t that thick, I could easily pour it. I know my oven is correct so what could it be? Darn! It’s still baking!! I made it last year but used Whole wheat flour. I’m so discouraged.

I did make this cake. I didn’t have applesauce so I use some crushed pineapple. It was delicious and I would make it again. Thanks for the great recipe.

Awesome combination of flavors! I used half the sugar and replaced half of the oil (canola) with more applesauce, baking at 325 degrees, and frosted with ermine icing.

I realized on Christmas morning that I had not planned a dessert for after dinner. I chose this spice cake because it was easy to make with ingredients I had on hand. I baked it in a bundt pan. Instead of the frosting I just sprinkled it with powdered sugar and served it with a dollop of whipped cream. So moist and delicious! I will make this again.
