What To Serve With Cinnamon Rolls

 Brioche Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls, with their buttery, cinnamon-filled goodness and cream cheese frosting, are a beloved treat for breakfast, brunch, and as a sweet treat for special occasions. These fluffy, golden brown treats have been a favorite for generations. If you’re enjoying a batch of homemade cinnamon rolls, serving them alongside the right dishes can make for a well rounded brunch spread.

Classic Cinnamon Rolls are made by first preparing the cinnamon roll dough. I add my dry ingredients to a large bowl, whisk in the wet ingredients, and knead until a smooth and soft dough forms. Let the dough rest and then slather it with cinnamon brown sugar filling.

Starting on the long side, roll up the dough and then slice into rolls. Proof for about an hour and then bake!

Ingredients needed for Homemade Cinnamon Buns:

  • Active dry yeast
  • All purpose flour
  • Brown sugar
  • White sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Melted butter
  • Eggs
  • Warm milk

Supplies needed for Perfect Cinnamon Rolls:

  • Sharp knife
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Medium bowl for frosting
  • Prepared baking pan
  • Clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap

What to serve with Cinnamon Rolls:

1. Cream Cheese Frosting

  • First and foremost, the cream cheese icing that tops your homemade cinnamon rolls is just the best. The rich and creamy icing complements the warm rolls, giving them that ooey gooey look and texture we love. To prepare the cream cheese glaze, make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature and mix it in a large bowl with vanilla extract, softened butter, and powdered sugar. You’ll get a perfect cream cheese frosting to spread generously over your cinnamon rolls. You could also try my Brown Butter Frosting recipe for something different.

Brioche Cinnamon Rolls2. Variations

Want to try some different flavors?  In addition to classic cinnamon rolls, you can experiment with variations like Apple Cinnamon rolls, Lemon Poppyseed Buns or even rolls studded with chocolate chips. These options provide a diverse array of flavors, appealing to a wider range of tastes. You could also make a batch of Cinnamon Streusel Muffins for a similar flavor profile in muffin form!

3. Fruit Salad

To balance the sweetness of your cinnamon rolls, a mixed fruit bowl is a refreshing side option. Combine a variety of fresh fruits like mixed berries, pineapple chunks, and sliced oranges to create a colorful and nutritious side. The fruity flavors and natural sweetness of the fruit medley complement the rich, doughy cinnamon rolls perfectly. I love this Mint Mojito Fruit Salad!

4.Breakfast Inspiration

Cinnamon rolls are a fantastic canvas for a variety of breakfast dishes. They pair wonderfully with classics like scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, or a side of fruit. You can also serve them alongside other breakfast staples like omelets, sausages, and even a cheesy potato casserole. These options make your breakfast spread complete and offer a variety of flavors to enjoy. Some favorites (Egg Skillet, Spring quiche, and this breakfast Strata)

5.Healthy Alternatives

If you’re looking for healthier options to serve with your cinnamon rolls, consider dishes like Greek yogurt with honey and granola, a mixed green salad, or a frittata.

6.Beverages

To complement your cinnamon rolls, you’ll need good drink options. Classic choices like coffee, tea, or a cold glass of milk are the perfect thing to balance the sweetness of cinnamon rolls. For your brunch spread, orange juice, or mimosas would also be fresh and festive!
